Outsulation of your Home

By Outsulating a building with foam on the walls, utilities can be dramatically reduced. It can actually be very affordable, especially if you have already planned to re-stucco or re-roof the building anyway. The extra cost of adding foam during the re-stucco is modest, and in addition to the energy savings, the stucco will last much longer, since Styrofoam doesn’t expand and contract like other materials. It will make an old building look like new. Wall Outsulation is a great return on investment.

If your roof is already leaking and needs to be replaced, we encourage you to consider Outsulating your roof together with the roof replacement. Again, the cost of adding Styrofoam under the new roof is modest, compared to the cost of the roofing, and the results are amazing.

At Extreme Green, we understand how important it is that Churches are good stewards of their finances. Products like Outsulation make the money you spend on improvements pay you back over time. Extreme Green can help you make these important decisions for your congregations. We encourage you to visit with us or to attend one of our Green Building Seminars.

New Construction of Churches

In 2002, Sandia Pueblo set a new standard by specifying that its new church be constructed to look like it was built with adobe, and be built with materials that would last at least 500 years. The only building system that could address these specifications was Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs). They realized that this building was going to remain in their family for hundreds of years. This multi-generational outlook on construction really makes sense, especially for a buildings paid for by groups. Schools, churches and government buildings are all being paid for by groups of people, rather than individuals. The benefit of these structures should be realized by future generations, not just the present one.

Insulated concrete forms use about half the energy of conventional construction. Also built in 2002, the 40,000 square foot Desert Springs Church on Osuna in Albuquerque, enjoys the benefits of energy efficient construction, acoustics and longevity. Concrete is a natural choice for sustainable construction, however, insulated concrete is much better because it is protected outside temperature fluctuations.

Although these churches were high budget projects, it is possible to build churches as a reasonable cost. By involving Extreme Green in the design process, it is possible to radically reduce the cost of construction. Extreme Green is also developing some ultra energy efficient standard designs that can be built at a great cost.

For example, the Los Lunas Church of God was given a 4 acre plot as a donation in the exclusive Hunning Ranch subdivision. With this land equity and support from other churches it will make it possible for them to build this 6000 square foot building is being built for approximately $60/sf which will allow them to grow their modest congregation to 200+ members. As the congregation grows, the plan is to convert the building to the youth auditorium and build a new, much larger building for the main auditorium, eventually filling utilizing the entire campus. Company CEO, Jim Montoya is also the Pastor of Los Lunas Church of God. Pastor Jim believes that God has called him to become Pastor of this church at this time like God called Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.

Extreme Green is very passionate about helping churches achieve their vision. We encourage you to visit with us or to attend one of our Church Building Seminars

Green Building Seminars

Extreme Green offers Green Building seminars once per month. They are a great way to learn about practical green building technology like Insulated Concrete Forms and Passive Solar construction. If you have plans to build a home, you owe it to yourself to learn about the best construction technology available. Not only is it good for the environment, it actually pays you back.

The seminars are held about once per month on Saturdays from 9-11am. We will be covering the essentials of green building including Insulated Concrete Forms, SIPS, Passive Solar and other green technology. There is no charge for the seminar, but there are some nice discounts you are eligible for by attending. There is usually an optional field trip at the end of the class to one of the jobsites which is very beneficial. If you are planning to build a house, this is probably the biggest investment of your life. It is definitely worth your time to learn about the very best building technology that also pays you back over time with maintenance and energy savings.

Tired of high heating and cooling costs in a home that looks like every other house on the block? Are you ready to build the home of your dreams, and build it green? Then you owe it to yourself to check out MightyWall concrete wall system, one of the most environmentally friendly building systems on the planet. So why choose MightyWall? You’ll save 50% on the energy needed to heat and cool your home, and the structure you build will literally last for hundreds of years. MightyWall panels are produced from recycled materials right here in New Mexico, and building costs are competitive with more wasteful wood frame construction. More than 2000 luxury concrete form homes have already been built in New Mexico and with MightyWall, you can afford to build yours too.

Almost all homes in the United States are built with some or all wood frame. Wood frame homes rarely last more than one generation without major renovation. Homes are susceptible to mold, termites, fire and other catastrophes. Alternatively, Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) and Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs) gain popularity, but one lack longevity, and the other is expensive.

MightyWall combines the strength benefits of ICFs with the cost benefits of SIPs to make a new revolutionary product that will radically change the construction industry.

#1 Residential Green Builder in New Mexico

In the April 20, 2009 issue of New Mexico Business Weekly, Extreme Green was ranked as the #1 Residential Green Builder by New Mexico Business Weekly in April 20, 2009 issue. Extreme Green moved up four spots from the previous year as a result of aggressive promotion of a suite of environmentally friendly products and services including APEX Insulated Concrete Forms, MightyWall Insulated Concrete Forms, 3D Passive Solar Design and Outsulation. An increased interest in energy saving technology has allowed Extreme Green to grow its business despite the ongoing economic crisis. According to company CEO, Jim Montoya PhD, “People are more interested in sustainable construction than ever before. Sustainable in this case means buildings that last a very long time and require very little maintenance. ”

Building “GREEN” means different things to different people. To us, building green means building multi-generational energy efficient buildings that most of the population can afford. While we do not discourage the use of other earth friendly products, we simply believe that using earth friendly products on a house that lasts only one generation does not really have a great benefit environment. For that reason, we only promote green technology that pays for itself with longevity and energy savings. We have found that by using 3D design principles we can build an Insulated Concrete homes that most people can afford.

Our collection of videos are a summary short course of our Extreme Green Building Seminars, explaining in clearly and concisely why Insulated Concrete is the best value in environmentally friendly construction. We use many of these videos in our commercials so everyone can learn about green building. It is our goal to get ICF construction into mainstream.

Extreme Green builds exclusively with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) for the following reasons:

ICF Homes are Strong – ICF homes can withstand tornado & hurricane force winds up to 250mph.

ICF Homes are Fire Resistant – ICF walls have up to a 4 hour fire rating.

ICF Homes are Pest Resistant – Solid core concrete ICF walls are resistant termites, roaches and rodents.

ICF Homes are Energy Efficient – ICF homes use up to 50% less energy for heating and air conditioning.

ICF Homes are Draft Free – No air infiltration through the solid core walls virtually eliminates hot and cold spots.

ICF Homes are Sound Dampening – Solid walls reduce unwanted outside noise by as much as 87%.

ICF Homes are Allergen Resistant – No hidden danger from mold and mildew .

ICF Homes are Economically Friendly – Insurance premiums can be as much as 20% lower.

ICF Homes are Environmentally Friendly – One home can save up to 47 trees.

ICF Homes are Builder Friendly – Reduced construction time and less labor.

ICF Homes are Tax Friendly – The recently passed energy bill provides remarkable tax incentives.
